Start Here :: Looking back...

Its been 7 months today since I got discharged from the hospital... I will be recounting what I went through and the lessons along the way(what;s the use otherwise!?) ;-) I will try to link to posts via this post... Planning to visit my #1 Ayurvedic Option! Nov 2020 - Feb 2021: Yet Another Ayurveda Shop? Getting Back to 2 dialysis a week again, in new Hospital. Jan 2020 - Nov 2020 : Trying another Ayurveda Option. Ayurvedic way to increase HB? All occasions of getting admitted to New Hospital {(HB,HB,HB),(Corona,Corona,Corona,Corona)} Yay! Yikes! Corona #MixedFeelings Giving the Hospital A BIG GET-LOST! Why Am I Looking Fluffy? Trying Another Ayurveda Option! Aug-2018 to Nov 2019 Clinical Proofs of Ayurveda on CKD !! Meeting the allopathic doctor after 6 months :-P Continuing with bunking the dialysis. My first complete bunk of bi-weekly dialysis! The next leap is near.. any guesses? I feel better, and the urge to take the next step is there, but... Okay, Urea is down... ...

Why the hell is UREA so high again?

Alright, Urea is not cooperating! Cretanine is fixed at 6.5! Time to sync with Ayurvedic docs! They say: Soak veggies before eating in warm water Limit paneer to 50 gms a day Seasonal changes? Eat paneer in day These tips again didn't reduce urea much! But atleast it was a start!

Things back on track slowly...

So with urea starting to recede, I changed the milk to double toned and paneer too was made from that milk at home. This showed little improvement, but cretanine was still hovering at 6. I had started taking some junk food of sorts: bread, butter, parathas. Hoping things will keep on improving, I was in for some surprise!

Urea needs to be controlled...

So cretanine was getting stable hovering around ~6. But a new villian was showing up :: UREA I really do not know how/from where was this coming in the body. I heard stories of this present in adulterated milk and milk products, I stopped taking milk directly and stopped raw paneer parathas and moved to paneer bhurji. This reduced urea by around 50 points, but still it was 4 times above normal!! The doing away of paneer parathas meant me not gaining weight, so this continues for some time.

The rise and Fall of cretanine...

So most probably the medicines were working.. My cretanine values moved from: 11 10 9 7 6 This happened after an initial rise and then coming to this trend. I would credit the following for the improvement: Diet Pranayam Medicine Nerve Massage Therapy Combination of all these resulted in a gradual drop.

The era of second opinions...

A few months have passed and the main kidney value was not improving. So I took a lot of 2nd opinions from a few allopathic docs. Everyone had to say: Transplant Dialysis That's it. It clearly showed how limited the allopathic sciences have come about. Completely ignoring the existence of more veteran and proven sciences! All this effort was in vain! But it did one thing, it helped me highlight, I had to improve my diet. As in amount of food consumed. 😐 So I started taking paneer parathas in breakfast and my weight started increasing! PS: I was 65 earlier, when hospitalised, I was 44, now I am 56.

The Fistulia...

Coming back to the dialysis, Let me talk through the process... So when the kidney becomes dysfunctional, the tasks of kidney are left pending, hence, a thing called cretanine rises in the body as it is not removed(blame the sleeping kidney neurons). In the process of dialysis(discovered by  Dr.  Willem Kolff  )  these steps are done Blood taken out from the body Cleaned from cretanine + sodium + potassium +urea etc Blood returned to the body So these steps are done for the whole blood in the body. For steps 1 and 3, the first incision was made on my body at the neck(called Line). Later after my discharge from the hospital  A new incision was made on my right chest(called Catheter). Roughly 3 months later, I was operated again to undergo a surgery for Fistula  . The Line went in I guess it was done on me when I had no sense of my surroundings. This is how it is placed. The Catheter comes in too. A few days into the Line, the docs sai...

Running after all possible so-called alternative medicines!

So the fact that No-Transplant option is the chosen one, I had to fall back to my belief, Ayurved! The story is very interesting, while I was in the hospital  Papa, was searching and reading more about the dialysis machine! And thanks to Google Ads, I came across my pitstop for my ayurvedic treatment!(thanks to the guys @ND Ayurveda to think this far and link their advt with dialysis machines!) I also reached out to Patanjali Ayurved, and thanks to their superb diet plan, the change in my lifestyle and eating habits could be easily accomidated. There was another Ayurved option, but they only claimed to reduce the cretanine. But ND folks claimed to revive the nephrons of the kidney(a match made for each other 😌). Do my medicines with ND folks was continuing. Apart from that the network of friends and family and the Google Search Masters, I came across another option Gokhru :: I did not benefit much from it after trying it for 2 months NaHCO3 :: Taking this reduces cre...

To transplant or No-No is the big question !

So after understanding and digesting the fact that what is dialysis(little by little), The million dollar question to be answered was: whether to go for a transplant OR not? Option 1: Transplant Having no faith and complete understanding on the immaturity of allopathy, I was super sure that transplant is a no-no for me. There were other reasons too, that I got aware of: Super bad(read tests and hospitaization) life until atleast 18 months after and 6 months before the transplant. Kindney transplant is not a 100% success story across all boards Firm belief that the kidney can be revived(some of my allopathic docs have a different opinion). I came across a doctor from China(Carrie Li) who insisted not to go for the transplant at Shijiazhuang Hospital. She was available for consultation on lots of things and was regularly sharing updates from her side regarding how with naturopathy kidney can be cured. We did exchange a few emails too! Option 2: No transplant This meant in ...

What I am under Dialysis??

So after I was discharged from the hospital, I absolutely did not think, I was unwell! After couple of days, I was supose to go to the hospital. I thought maybe a regular checkup... But to my shock, I was undergoing a medical condition called dialysis :-( The only time I had heard this word, was in some hindi movie and that too an off-reference. Shockingly, I was unaware what hell it would break loose and I was in some serious lifestyle changes!

The Hospital Saga

It was April the 30th, 2017. I was not able to get up from my bed, completely out of energy, then mom got me admitted to the hospital. Two weeks in the hospital, and here I am proven to having exactly 2 kidneys, but 95% of them non functional. Here's what I recall from the stay at the hospital. Emergency ICU Room
